Donations to MGH Pediatric Hematology & Oncology Clinic
We are so honored to be able to carry on Matthew’s Legacy at MGH’s Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Clinic where Swirls was treated. Thank you to the wonderful Elyse Levin-Russman for making this possible. The MGH Heme/Onc Team has become family to us, and we love being able to give back to the team that gave Swirls so much love and light during the most difficult times.
We are forever grateful and honored to call you all our family.
Swirls MVP: Oliver Smith
Our First and Forever Swirls Around the World MVP, Oliver Smith.
Two years ago, the Swirls Family connected with the incredible Oliver and Smith Family through Ollie Bots when we were gifted our very own Swirls Ollie Bot. OllieBots is a project that Oliver created to raise funding and awareness for Ewing sarcoma after he was diagnosed in 2017. To date, over 2000 OllieBots have been made, with over $35,000 donated directly to Ewings Cancer Foundation Endowment Fund.
The Smith Family soon became part of our Swirls Family, and this past November, we had he honor of spending a special day in Boston with Oliver and his dad Bryan. Though we were meeting for the first time, it felt as if we were just old friends catching up. Oliver is a blessing to our lives, and we thank Swirls for bringing the Smith Family into our lives. Oliver and family have taken Swirls to several hockey games, where he experienced some awesome championship wins, and to Disney! We love our OllieBots and have them displayed proudly in our homes, as a reminder that Oliver is always with us.
Oliver Smith is a hero and his legacy will forever be remembered. He changed the world and made such an impact in his 12-years. We know that Matthew was standing at Heavens gate to welcome Ollie and take him under his wing. We can picture them running and laughing together, talking about hockey, and looking down on their loved ones.
To Bryan, Shauna, Emma, Megan, and the entire Smith & Grant Families, we love you all very much. You are such a blessing to our lives. We only wished we lived closer, but know that you will always have family in Boston. We always love a good Maple Leafs vs. Bruins game.
To honor Oliver, Uncle Frank took our special OllieBot around Boston.
Ollie Bots are created to raise funds for Ewings Cancer Foundation of Canada Endowment at SickKids and for children battling pediatric cancers in our community.
